WDP-4 !! For most people in India especially the Railfans , any mention of this word would first bring to mind the image of that in LHF - Long hood Forward mode . Such is the elegance and striking pose it provides in that mode. Add to that the sound it produces with its 16 cylinder 710G3B engine that sounds just like the Boeing Aircraft is just mesmerizing . I as a travel freak and train lover , admire this loco to the peak.
The WDP4 is capable of hauling 24 coach trains at 110-120 kmph speeds.The loco is also very fuel efficient and is better than ALCo locomotives thanks to the 2 stroke high efficiency diesel engine .
My Favourite loco in this class is WDP-4 20005 that is homed at Hubli DLS and that was one of the few loco's to be imported when IR first started to use these loco's .
